Body Patterns

2 players

Using the same side of the body.

The trainer asks to use the same hand and the same foot (left foot forward/left hand for throwing). Symmetry: right foot/ right hand.

Using the opposite side of the body.

The trainer asks to put one foot forward and to throw with the opposite hand (left foot forward/right hand for throwing). Symmetry: right foot/ left hand.

In the first case a homolateral body pattern (same side) is proposed. This pattern is characteristic for passing, defense with one arm and preparation for attack and service.

In the second case a crosslateral body pattern (opposite side) is proposed. This pattern is characteristic for hitting the ball in service and attack.

That means that the player learns to organize his body, in the same way the volleyball techniques require it to.
